Immersing in the outdoors encourages opportunities for self-reflection, renewal, and revelation. Nature and wildlife provide an abundance of subject matter that consistently inspires and fuels my creative process. Through abstract forms and hues found in the environment, I discover the symbolization of our physical and spiritual realms and how they intersect. Interpreting this view with photography, I use a macro lens to present my subjects larger than life while revealing intricate details, textures, and movement.
My artistic process involves pretending I am a very small, teeny tiny version of myself sitting on the flower or piece of nature I am photographing. How would the world look from that view? Doing this enables me to shift perspective and be enveloped by the scene unfolding in front of me through the lens. Time slows down and I continue to shoot in a sort of meditative state. The essence, or vibration of the subject is coming through, and it’s my job to stay open, receive communication, and translate this ethereal language. Artwork is birthed, named, and produced based on the feelings, energy and subtle messaging that were experienced at the time the images were taken as well as during post processing.
